Film: Yakari, a Spectacular Journey

Enter the world of the the bravest little Sioux boy Yakari adapted from the Franco-Belgian comic book series, written by Job and illustrated by Derib. With his tribe’s move to follow the migrating bison imminent, Yakari sets out on his own to follow the trail of Little Thunder, a wild mustang said to be untamable. Exhibition: Quentin Blake

Sir Quentin Blake, illustrator of Roald Dahl’s famous books and so many classics, is the patron of the South Ken Kids Festival. This year, he is sharing special illustrations with us: from La Fontaine’s Fables celebrating the 400 years of the author’s birthday to some nature-inspired drawings highlighting the urgency to tackle climate change, enter into the universe of the beloved Quentin Blake in a unique exhibition.

The Children’s Bookshow: Chris Naylor-Ballesteros

Come and meet author and illustrator Chris Naylor-Ballesteros for a morning of stories and illustration. Chris will be telling us about his work as a picture book creator, reading his books, and drawing live too. With the chance to ask questions, this event will inspire children to read, write and draw!

Piano Recital & Live Drawing with Louise Cournarie, Antoine Préat & Jo Weaver

For your ears and eyes’ delight only, two talented young pianists Louise Cournarie and Antoine Préat will play magnificent pieces from the classical repertoire, including Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy, accompanied on stage by illustrator Jo Weaver, whose beautiful nature-inspired work will strike your imagination in a live drawing for the ages. Enjoy!
